The Greatest Rivalries in Sports History

Nothing beats a great sports rivalry: two giants going head-to-head with each other, fighting for glory and bragging rights. Trust us; nothing hurts more than a bruised ego if you’re at the losing end of a rivalry. MSN Sports lists down the ten greatest rivalries in sports.

Lee Chong Wei vs. Lin Dan

In a sport where not many care about (sad but true), the Lee Chong Wei-Lin Dan rivalry is perhaps the only reason why people would want to watch badminton in the first place. The rivalry goes way back when Lin Dan was the world number one, all high and mighty, and Chong Wei was an up-and-rising star.

In 2008, our Malaysian hero managed to topple Lin Dan from the top spot and that was when the rivalry picked up even further: the pair went head-to-head more than 13 times in badminton finals to date, with Lin Dan winning nine of them – including the all-exclusive Beijing Olympics gold and the recent Asian Games gold. Lin Dan might be the more superior player, but Chong Wei is still the world number one.
