GEMS INTRODUCTION
Graduate Employability Management Scheme or (GEMS) is a government capacity building initiative to equip graduates with commercially useful skills and experiences that will enhance their employment opportunities. This scheme is part of the 7 billion stimulus package announced by Y.A.B. Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak as part of the programme to mobilise our human capital to support the country’s economic growth. GEMS has the mandate to train 12,000 graduates over a two (2) year period. The programme is based on an earlier Graduate Employability Enhancement (GREEN) Programme developed by Khazanah Nasional Berhad with the support of Government-linked companies (GLCs).
HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKS
The GEMS training programme is divided into two (2) parts with the first part consist of 2.5 months in-house training where the graduates will be given training to acquire skills and qualities that will help improve their confidence, their ability to communicate, and to manage tasks and responsibilities that are important in their work life. The programmes will be conducted simultaneously at several locations in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Sg. Petani, Kuantan, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. This will be followed by a 6-month on-the-job training at various organisations and institutions including GLCs. This will provide valuable working experience and knowledge to support the participants future growth.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Open to Malaysians who have graduated with a recognised Degree.
2. Obtained a minimum CGPA rating of 2.5 or its equivalent.
3. Applicants must be below 27 years old.
4. Applicants with academic qualifications higher than a Bachelors’ Degree are not eligible to apply.
5. Applicants must be willing to undergo industrial training at participating organisations.
PROGRAMME DURATION
8.5 months.
PROGRAMME TRAINING
Successful candidates will undergo a 2.5-month classroom training followed by a 6-month on-the-job training.
